Norene's Old Glory Eagle

Norene made this patriotic quilt from a printed panel.

She added some very wide borders in solid yellow and red fabrics that were just begging for some custom quilting.

I divided up the red border with a funky blade feather and large pebbles around the outside.

I piano-keyed the printed striped border.

I outlined the panel elements and filled in with swirls. This quilt is going to a grandson to be used, so I still wanted it to be more on the cuddly side rather than the cardboard side of the quilting spectrum.

I French-fried the yellow border. Ha! At least that's what it reminds me of. I used a ruler to make 1/2 inch lines in random angles.

I used matching threads in red, yellow, blue and a little bit of brown.

The back.

Thanks Norene!

Jessica's Floral Bricks

Jessica made this pretty little quilt.

These prints were so fun- I quilted an all-over with lots of curls, flowers, and feathers.

Thanks Jessica!

Placid Curves

This quilt is called Placid Curves from the book Modern Neutrals by Amy Ellis. It was made by me and my family for a cousin who is getting married.

We had so much fun choosing the right fabrics and colors and hues of teals and grays. We worked as a team cutting strips, sewing, pressing and laying out the final design. We did it from start to finished top in a day! There was at one time up to 5 of us working on it, so that really helped it go together fast.

I quilted it with giant swirls.

I used a light gray thread for the top.

And a variegated teal for the bobbin. A fun choice for a solid colored backing.

I went back and filled in several of the tricky empty spots with little hearts. Because, you know, it's a wedding gift after all.

Congrats to Joe and Lindsey! The last cousin in our family to be wed, we are going to need to find new excuses to get together and make quilts! Soo, the great grandkids are starting to graduate from high school now...

Blue and Green Lilly Pulitzer

Jessica brought me a laundry basket of quilts to work on. First up is this blue and green Lilly Pulitzer quilt she made for one of her clients.

I had a bit of fullness in the border to contend with. Never fear! She had two layers of batting to help out, and with the right quilting design, all will be well.

I went with a serpentine design (a page out of Angela Walter's book Shape by Shape) and every so often filled a spot in with a row of pebbles.

Love the little bit of pizzazz the black cornerstones add.

The rest of the quilt was treated with all-over designs of paisleys and circles. Super simple, because the real star of the show here is the fun beachy bright prints.

The back. Ooh la la!

Thanks Jess!

Becki's Tiny Tumblers

Holy Scraps! Becki made this super scrappy quilt with little bitty tumblers that she rotary cut individually. I'm going to say each one is about 1.5-2 inches in size.

That's a lot of pieces!

I kept it pretty simple with the quilting, just some paisley swirls.

Thanks Becki! Love this quilt!
