20th Anniversary Quilt

Last summer my brother and his lovely wife celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary. So, naturally my mom, sister and I planned a secret quilting weekend to make them this king sized beauty!

I had lots of fun quilting it with not only a variety of designs, but with various words and names too! Here in the center are their names and "20 years".

Their kids' names.

Iowa State--where they met.

Places they've lived.

Names of their pets- Sketch and Kari

I barely have enough room on my floor for this one! They were very surprised when it was gifted and very touched. And (Spoiler Alert!) a smaller couch quilt was made out of the scraps and trimmings of this one so the kids have a matching quilt too! 

Congrats on making it through your first twenty years of marriage guys!

 

Log Cabin Quilt

Anita made this really sweet log cabin quilt using 30's prints.

I quilted all-over designs of flowers and swirls and things.

There's a subtle doggy theme in these prints.

And even more so on the back! How fun!

The Grinch Wallhangings

Anita made a couple of little Grinch wallhangers. 

I enjoyed outlining and adding in a few details in the machine applique.

Northern Peaks Panel

Lori made this gorgeous quilt from the panel Northern Peaks by Deborah Edwards and Melanie Samra for Northcott Fabrics.

She wanted it custom quilted, but still cuddly as she used minky for the backing.

The panel looks like a watercolor painting. I just outlined the bears and followed a few lines in the mountains and surrounding landscape.
