Lois's Rail Fence Variation

Lois made this fun Rail-fence variation. 

I quilted all-over feathered swirls, but did some c2c in the black diamonds.

More feathered swirls in the black border.

The black diamonds stood out, so I thought they needed some special treatment.

Marty's Memory T-shirt quilt

Marty made this T-shirt quilt in memory of her nephew. I custom quilted the shirt decals and filled in the rest with a paisley design.

The black and white shirt was tricky because it has little bitty sparkly rhinestones all over it. I outlined the design and quilted minimally into it, and it turned out fine! phew!  As for Tupac, I decided to outline his head and bandanna.  I didn't want to stitch through his face at all. Same for the 'Gone but not forgotten' picture on the top row. I just outlined the face and went around the ball cap and bill, and that was just enough.

Cindy's flannel squares

Cindy made this cozy flannel quilt. 

I quilted more 'feathers on the halfshell' with curls and leaves to help fill in the empty gaps.

Julie's embroidered baby quilt

Julie commissioned me to put together and finish her baby quilt blocks she hand embroidered. It's full of cute animals and the ABC's.

She wanted a simple star and loop design for the quilting. Not too dense, not too loose.

I bound it as well, but I honestly can't recall if I did it by hand or machine. It was 5 months ago that I did it, I'm that far behind on the blogging...

Lois's Christmas table topper

Lois made a whole bunch of Christmas table runners and wall-hangings as gifts, so this is just one of many to come. 

I quilted feathers in a half-shell, with some holly leaves and swirls in the mix.

I used a cream colored thread on the top and bottom. This here is the bottom.

Norene's HST quilt/DGS Oct. scrappy block

This was our block for do.Good stitches back in October. (!) Love these scrappy blocks! Not sure of the name of it, but here are the cutting instructions. Hopefully you can figure out how it goes together by the picture. There are so many ways you could arrange these blocks for a totally different look.  The longarm-er in me loves the white negative space with it too. ;)

For each block you need to cut:

Low volume - (2) 3.5x6.5", (2) 3.5x3.5"

"Happy" colored Scraps - (40) 2" square

Norene made this fun sampler out of a layer cake kit.

I quilted it with a simple swirl with a few lines of big bubbles. Kind of goes along with all those polka dots...

I used a gray thread to blend in with the black and all those different colors.

Norene made this pretty quilt from a kit. 

I quilted the borders individually and an all-over in the center.

Carol's stars

Carol made this fun star quilt for her granddaughter. 

I quilted the border strips with ribbon candy and loops, and feathers in the setting triangles. 

The corners got some loops.

The center blocks got an overall large feathered swirl.

Becki's bento box quilt

Becki made this fun bento box quilt. Love these colors together!

I quilted an all over design with scalloped paisleys.

Something curvy and flowing to contrast with all the straight lines and corners.

Fall raffle quilt

This quilt was made for a charity auction for a special lady. Our elementary school secretary who had just recently completed cancer treatments contracted West Nile virus. For a normal healthy person West Nile is not a big deal, but to one with a compromised immune system it is a very serious and more difficult journey to overcome. If you are lucky. So naturally our little school rallied and organized a benefit breakfast - silent auction -bake sale -quilt raffle event. 

So when a couple of the faculty who happened to also be quilters decided to put together a quilt to raffle and asked it I could quilt it up quick, I said 'of course'! 

They went with a fall theme with the fabrics-her favorite! I had just completed this quilt by Lois which was very similar, and we decided to quilt it about the same way. 

I used a variegated thread that was gold/orange/brown. I actually ran out of it about 2/3rds of the way into the LAST pass! Ordering another spool was not an option with our time crunch, so I had a bit of gold thread I put on. Ran out of that! Then I put on an orange or a brown I can't remember now, and finished it up. Good thing with the variegated thread colors and the colors of the blocks, it's not very noticeable unless you go looking for it. :)

Lots of freestyle swirling, twirling leaves! I used about every leaf shape I can quilt into it.

The light gold marbled back was a perfect opportunity to show off the quilting with a dark brown bobbin thread.

Love how it turned out! The benefit was a HUGE success too. Unbelievable the number of people who came to help support! Happy to be a small part of it.
