Bitty blocks baby quilt and Splendid Sampler blocks

Katie made this adorable baby quilt called 'Bitty Blocks'.

It's a pretty gender neutral color pallet so I kept the quilting the same with big swirls and bubbles.

the back.  Thanks Katie!

It's been a while since I last posted some of my Splendid Sampler blocks. We have just reached the half-way mark with block #50! I'm just a few blocks behind (4 to be exact) I've dusted off the old DMC floss and am loving the embroidery side of this project. I do the hand work in the evenings and when I'm done with a block I find myself at a loss with nothing to work on. What do I do?!? Just sit here and watch tv?  lol

Such teeny-tiny hexies! Each side is 1/2 inch. I felt like I was sewing together Skittles! I love-love-love how it turned out, but don't foresee any more tiny hexies in my future.

The tiny red bit of fabric bled into my white background when I rinsed out my marking pen! Ack! And I have used that fabric in 9 other blocks. (the tomato pincushion above too.) I'm going to have to figure out how to save them.  But I washed and rinsed out the rest of that fabric so I think the problem is solved from here on out.

A neighboring town is full of black squirrels- a pretty rare thing, so I made my squirrel black. And purple. :)  Also because I don't have any brown 30's repro. Does it even exist? I haven't seen any.

Those are just a few of my latest blocks. You can find all the Splendid Sampler blocks and FREE patterns here. The patterns will be free and available until sometime next year when they will be made into a book.

I read about your red 'bleeding' onto your white quilt square. I would like to suggest using a 'color catcher dye-trapping sheet'. I have read that you take one of the sheets and baste it on the spot and then soak it. You might have to do this more than once, but it is something that supposedly works. If you need more info, e-mail me and I will send you more info and where you can look at a blogger who has done this.
