A bucket
list item I’ve had for a while was to design my own quilt block for do.Good
Stitches. So, with graph paper, pencil, and a 10-in-one color ink pen, I
started drawing. This block could exist somewhere out there, but I haven’t seen
it. This is not the most detailed tutorial, so if you have any questions, just
shoot me a message.
For one
12 inch block you will need:
Yellow-
4-2.5 inch squares
1- 4.5 inch square (this can have
just a little bit of yellow in it like block on right, or any color coordinating
print you have will be fine.)
Green- 4-3
inch squares *OR* 2-4 inch squares
Pink- 4-3
inch squares *OR* 2-4 inch squares
Blue- 2-3
inch squares *OR* 1-4 inch square
4-4.5 by 2.5 inch rectangles (use same blue fabric
here, everything else can be scrappy/mis-matched since they will be on the
outside edge of block.)
White/Low
volume- 10-3 inch squares *OR* 5-4 inch squares
I will assume we all know how to make HSTs 2 at a time with the smaller squares, but if making them 4 at a time is new to you, here’s a quick guide.
With right sides together (a light and a colored square), sew all the way around the 4-inch square.
Layout your
pieces accordingly.
Press seams open. Sew rows together.
