Leaf Sampler- star value blocks

I joined the Nurture doGood Stitches circle at the beginning of the year, and they needed someone to head up January.  I went ahead and took it on, knowing exactly which quilt I wanted to do. Again. Star Value!!  We made this quilt a while back with the Haven circle and I just loved it!  So I saw this new doGood Stitches group as a chance to make it again.  These are the 16 inch blocks using 3 and 2.5 inch squares.  There are just 2 blocks shown here. They create a secondary design once stitched all together.  It's like magic!

Carol made this tree/leaf block sampler.

Such neat blocks!

I kept it simple by doing an all-over with curls and leaves.

A peek at the back. Thanks Carol!

Iowa Hawkeye Bricks

Becki made this large quilt with Iowa Hawkeye prints.

I quilted it with lots of paisley, large bubbles, and a few I's and stars here and there.

Thanks Becki!

Diamonds-- DoGood Stitches

This is the Diamonds quilt our DoGood Stitches Haven circle made for our September blocks. I saw this quilt on Kathy's blog post  and just fell in love with the bright colors and simplicity of the blocks.

They are just 5 inch squares to start with, made into HST's and squared up to 4.5 inches. Then just sewn into a diamond shape.

This was a great way to use up some random leftover charm squares! And, I don't know about you, but sometimes those lights that aren't really that light, or have just a bit more color than you really want, are tricky to work with. So this quilt was the perfect spot for those.

The colors match the backing pretty well huh?

The quilting just got an all-over treatment in a cream thread. I quilted a variety of motifs in it to keep it fun and interesting. And it's just more fun to quilt that way too :)

This was my last quilt for the Haven circle. At the end of 2017 some members decided to drop out and the few of us left were divided and put into other groups. So I am now in the Nurture circle!  We have already made some really neat blocks that I will share one of these days.

Embroidered baby animals

Here is an embroidered baby quilt with a farm animal theme. So cute!

I custom quilted the borders with a double bubble, outlined the animals and did a simple little background fill with loops.

Thanks Phyllis! It's adorable!
