Made: Baby Stuff

So, apparently I haven't posted in a couple weeks.  I guess I just haven't felt like it, so deal with it!  :)  I actually do other things besides sew ya know.  But not today.  In the last 24 hours I made all these things.

A couple of bibs in preparation for the onslaught of babies of friends and relations that are going to be born in the next month or two.  This bib design was inspired by these here

And another ticker-tape doll quilt.

I used a chunk of a muslin sandwich that was previously used to practice quilting a Christmas light motif.  That worked out pretty slick.  I hate basting.  I don't know how all you machine quilters (as in non-longarm) can do it all the time.  I give a GIANT Kudos to those that do!

And in other news: I received this nice bundle of fabric for Christmas and I think I've decided what to do with it.  I'm going to use it for Natalia's Star Quilt Block-of-the-Month.  (BOM)  It's already 3 blocks in, but she did the simpler blocks first, so it should not be too difficult to get caught up.  I'm hoping that sewing one block/month will be just enough for me to keep up with.  Anyone else going to join in?

To quote Nancy Zieman:

April FNSI

Last night I quilted this little baby quilt.

And finished this table topper!  I started this on a FNSI back in January.  It measures 49 inches long which will leave some room on the table ends for a table setting.  Now I just have to get it quilted and bound.

I am debating on whether or not to turn a block around.  The little blue and yellow block that's 3rd from the top left--I think it needs to be turned 180 degrees so that the 2 square patches are at the top so that it's not in line with the other little one in the corner.  Hmm...wish I'd thought of that at 12 o'clock last night when putting this thing together!  Whaddaya think:  Turn it or leave it??

SFF Block

What?!?  Three posts in 3 days?!?  Yeah, this swap business has made for a busy blogging week!

I almost forgot to share this block with all of you.  This is the block I created for the Sew Fresh Fabric Bee.  Posted about here.  This block is called Rosy Posies and was featured in the latest issue of Quiltmaker magazine.  (May/June '11)  I added the green border to make it 12.5 inches.

Taking part in the FNSI (Friday Night Sew-In) tonight.  It's a cold, windy, rainy, dreary night and I have a pile of quilts that need quilting!  Click the link sometime tomorrow and see what everyone else worked on tonight!  So... I guess that means I'll have to make another post tomorrow!

Received! Make Mine Modern Swap

 It's Here!!

My package came from Brighton, UK and made by the lovely Sarah of Pings & Needles.  I've never "met" Sarah, but I can assume she is lovely because of the lovely goodies she made me.  Check them out!  (Notice the handmade card.)

What could this cute little wallet hold?  (notice the vintage pearl button)

A spot of tea anyone?!  And check out that awesome pencil.

But this takes the cake!  This picture doesn't do it justice.  (you can see a better pic here)  Each leaf is machine stitched down AND outlined/quilted by hand with embroidery thread!  Do you see the butterfly?  and the birdcage?  how cute is that??  But I think the grass adds the best touch.

Complete with a fancy-schmancy label.  Love that binding!

Oh! And the fabric!  Ooh La-La!

I LOOOVE it all!!  I can't wait to hang this up in my sewing room!  Thank you soo much Sarah for sending your crafty awesomeness across the pond to live with me!

Make Mine Modern Swap Reveal! [the sequel]

And this is the other thing that I made for the swap.  Its a wallhanging!  I fussy cut out some flowers and leaf shapes and ironed them on.  Very springy eh?

One of the corner hangers doubles as a label!

Here's the both of them.  And they will be on their way to my partner tomorrow first thing in the morning!  Along with the various fabric cuts that I didn't get a picture of.  (but some of it was selected from the fabric in this post here.)

Make Mine Modern Swap Reveal!

OK secret partner, if you happen to come across my blog and see this post, this is what I made just for you!  I think you will love it because you LOVE peacocks.  And Kaffe Fasset fabric.  And I think you like a bit of glitz and bedazzle-ment.  And this has all 3!

It's a sewing machine cover.  My machine is modeling it quite well don't you think?

And this would be the backside.  I hope you like it partner because I sure had fun with this peacock theme.  It should be coming your way sometime next week.  :)
