Peg's Heirloom Embroidered Baby Quilt

Peg brought me this sweet embroidered baby quilt. I believe the story goes that Great-Grandma had traced these from a coloring book (probably?) and hand embroidered them. She has since passed and Peg volunteered to put them together for an extended family member's new little one! Love those multi-generational heirloom projects. So special.

I outlined the critters and filled in backgrounds. This happy little ducky needed a wing to help hold him together.

A spineless leafy feather for the outside border, and more leaves for the sashings.

A horrible peek at the back.
Thanks Peg! I loved working on this one.

Lois's Seasonal Table Runners

Lois made a couple of table runners. Same pattern- different seasons. It looks like I was just barely able to squeeze both runners onto the same piece of backing. Such a time saver when you can use the same backing for multiple small projects like these.

I did a bit of custom work on it by quilting leaves in the orange borders, and some loops inside each light colored square.

I used a variegated thread that has all the fall browns, golds, and rusty oranges.

The Christmas version got the same type of treatment, only a little different.

Holly leaves in the red borders, and a fancy swirl design in the center squares.

I used a dark green thread on this one.

Thanks Lois for the fun little projects!

Turquoise Lilly Baby Quilt

One more from Jessica here.

This little quilt is more Lilly Pulitzer fabrics in turquoise and greens in a 4-patch layout.

I quilted all-over loopy leaves in a white thread color.

Grunge for the back. Love it!
Thanks again Jessica!

Jessica's Floral and Fox Baby Quilts

Jessica made a couple more baby quilts. How pretty are these prints?!

Lots of all-over flowers, curls, leaves, and circles.

Just quilting out what I see!

Here's a cute fox quilt. I believe it is an Elizabeth Hartman pattern.

I did an echoed serpentine McTavish type of design.

Thanks Jessica! Her shop is Home in the Heartland.

Lilly Pulitzer Quilt

Jessica sent me another tub full of quilts to quilt up for her. This one is another one of her Lilly Pulitzer designs, this one is a big one.

So many fun and bright prints to look at!

And the pattern really allows for the fabric prints to shine.

I quilted all-over designs of flowers, leaves, and curls.

Do you seen an alligator?

Thanks Jessica-always a fun one to work on with these prints!
Check out her Etsy shop Home in the Heartland to see all her quilts available to purchase.

Blue Mystery Quilt

About a year ago my quilt guild organized a mystery quilt sew-a-long while we were all home in quarantine. Parts of the instructions were emailed out each month, for about 3 or 4 months. This is how mine turned out.

We were to choose a dark, medium and light fabric. I went with scrappy blues, using up bits of my stash. Here I am auditioning my outer border fabric options.

The more true blue won out.

Some of my darks and medium blues kinda crossed over to each other's sides. But the overall design is there.

We made 8 blocks each of the two block patterns. The layout is really neat, I probably would have never thought to arrange them this way.

I quilted the borders with feathers and loops.

And more all-over feathers in the center.

It was fun to see all the versions the other guild members made. The use of different colors and fabrics, and even arranging the blocks another way made it look like another pattern altogether.

I ended up donating it to my children's school auction benefit. I work better with an urgent deadline to meet, and got it done just in time for the online auction. I found the perfect iron-on label in a book I recently purchased. I colored it in with crayons and set it with a hot iron.

A look at the backing.

My MIL was happy to be the highest bidder. This was a fun project to do as part of a guild, and then to be able to donate it and see it auctioned off online was pretty neat too. It has inspired me to perhaps donate more quilts to local charity auctions. But I have to be more proactive about starting and finishing it in time!
