Penny's Mystery Quilt

Our quilt guild had a mystery quilt challenge where instructions were handed out each month to make a quilt, without you knowing how the pattern will look in the end. This is Penny's!

Isn't it so neat?!

Taking quilt pictures is challenging when the preschooler is home. :)

Penny added some wide borders to hers. I quilted big swirls in the purple and a big ol' feather in the green. For the blocks I did an all-over with the exception placing the big rose flowers in the four corners. I couldn't leave that big lavender solid corner there without doing something.

Paisley swirls and flowers and funky feathers.

a peek at the back.

Thanks Penny! I did not participate in the Mystery quilt challenge, but after seeing the end result, I kinda wish I had. Ah well, at least I get to quilt it! That kinda counts right?

Anita's Bento Box

Anita made this quilt for her niece for Christmas.

I quilted all-over feathered swirls on it.

There might be a few flowers and leaves in there too.

The back was minky. Gotta love it!

Thanks Anita!

Lois's small panel projects

A couple more small projects from Lois. This 'Peace, Noel, Love, Joy' one was so neat.

I quilted curls all over and outlined the animals and words.

This Honey Bear panel with pieced borders is so neat too.

I quilted feathers in the green border and C2C'd the squares.

Inside the panel was filled in with swirls and curls.

Thanks Lois! These were some fun quilting projects!

Church in the window

Lois made two of these 'Snowy Church in the window' panel wallhangings.

I quilted a feather in the blue border and snowflakes in the yellow.

The window scenes I custom quilted by outlining and some fillers.

I used a gray thread everywhere but the yellow border. I changed to cream there.

I SID the window panes too.

Thanks Lois-They turned out so neat!

Christmas table runners

Lois had a bunch of small runners and paneled wallhangings for me to do at the end of the year for Christmas gifts. So this will be the first post of those.

I got to use my Christmas variegated thread on both of these. This cute panel got swirls and paisleys all over. Something with not a lot of thread play to distract from the cute printed panel scenes.

The cardinal runner also got Christmas variegated thread.

An all-over feathered swirl seemed appropriate. :)

The back. Thanks Lois!

Simple T-shirt Quilt

Joyce made this simple T-shirt quilt.

I quilted paisley swirls all over with a few stars and other things thrown in-My go-to boy-ish designs.

I outlined the shirt designs.

This might be the first time quilting a t-shirt quilt without any sort of sashing or borders on it. It worked out pretty well. I might have run into a couple puckers, but nothing that couldn't be fixed.

Thanks Joyce!

Applique flower vase

Katie has just one more runner! This one. is. awesome!

Such a pretty and bright flower vase.

I quilted in the flowers a little bit with tiny pebbles and swirls and petals.

I outlined everything and filled in the background with swirls and things.  The vase- I used a purple thread and did a cross-hatch to follow the print design. So it's barely visible, but does give it a nice texture.

The large floral print got outlined in gold thread.

The circles are done free-handed. Take a deep breath and use laser-beam focus and GO! Use swear words silently in your head as much as needed. :)

The back.

Thanks Katie, this was a fun one.
