Quilt #13 for the year

Well, the back of it anyway.  This one was extra fluffy and cozy like a comforter.  I'm afraid that any headway I've made quilting this winter, has almost diminished already.  And it's barely even spring!  I'm blaming the Make Mine Modern swap and American Idol.  And reading too many blogs.  Ah well.  Better buckle down before the weather actually gets really nice out.

Sew Fresh Fabrics Scrap Quilting Bee Bundle

It came today!!  My little bundle of scraps from Sew Fresh Fabrics arrived in the mail today.  I signed up to participate in the 2nd round of their bee.  They send me "scraps" (these pieces are a lot bigger than most of the ones in my scrap bin!  These actually would still be in my "regular sized" fabric bin...so sad, I know.) and I make a 12.5 inch unfinished block that I send back to them.  Then they make it into a quilt that gets donated to charity.  This round the charity is the Hopes and Dreams Quilt Challenge for ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease).  You can check out our progress on their Flicker group hereAnd I get to keep the any of the leftover fabric.  Which I love by the way.

I think this bee is such an awesome idea.  It's what I'd call a win-win-win.

Winning!!

Hand Sewing Projects

Recently I like to try to keep a small hand sewing project going to keep me busy in long car rides, or for the times when your husband wants to watch a movie you'd really rather not see, but you agree to "watch" it with him just to keep the peace.  I've been working on hand quilting this little quilt for about 4 years.  Nothing fancy, just a yard of fabric that I stitched around the flowers and leaves.

I could probably spend another year quilting on this thing and filling in more and more bare spots, but I'm sticking a fork in it and calling it done.  I guess I'm not that much of a hand quilter.  It's time to move on to another hand project...

...Hexies!  I'm going with all greens.  This will be a small project, a wall hanging or table topper or something.  Something in a manageable size that should take me another 4 years.  :)

...Making Progress

I haven't posted much lately, but I have been busy!  Busy with my MMM swap project....

And quilting quilts.  I'm just putting on quilt #13.  And I started something new.  Yes, I started a new project.  Hexies!  I've finally gave in and jumped on the hexagon bandwagon.   I've been seeing hexies on blogs all over the place and I couldn't avoid it any longer! No pictures to share here yet, but there really isn't much to show for now other than the stack of 2" squares and paper templates.

Dresden Trial Run

This weekend I borrowed Mom's dresden plate template for a certain MMM project I have in mind.   I used some of the ugliest fabric I own on a test run.

Not too shabby.  That is if you like goose and apple fabric from the 80's. :)

And this is a sneak peek at my project.  I'm pretty sure my secret partner will love it!  Because I'm such a good stalker and all ;)
