do.Good Stitches blocks and Urban Birthday

These are a few of my do.Good Stitches blocks from a while back. This one was a fun one to do! For July, we used 1.5 inch strips in various lengths and starting with a dark purple for the center, went to teal blue and sage green to cream/white on the ends to make a minimum length of 70 inches. Making 10 strips total. The inspiration quilt came from here.

These paper pieced blocks we made with red and white solids. And I cannot find my old email to share any more details on it, but its going to look really neat when it's done!

Becki made another one of these Urban Birthday quilts with her Quick Curve Ruler as a wedding gift.

Quliting it is so fun since you can go row by row across the quilt.

Curves and figure-8's in a cream thread.

Thanks Becki!

Emily's tshirt

Emily made this T-shirt quilt for her 4-H project.

I used a variegated thread on it called "Rio de Janeiro" which had pretty much all her border fabric colors in it. It also contrasted really nicely with her black sashings.

I had fun filling in with fun swirls and things, and outlining the tshirt designs.

Emily's quilt got to go on to the Iowa State Fair where she did really well too! Congrats Emily!

Janet's flag

Janet made this cute little American flag wallhanging.

She wanted a simple star and loops pattern quilted on it.

Turned out cute. Love the border fabric with the Iowa flags and postcards!
Thanks Janet!

Cindy's flannels

Cindy made this super cozy throw with flannels and a Fireside backing.

I quilted an all-over feathered paisley design in a light brown thread.

I pieced a gray strip in the center of the back to make it big enough.

Love seeing the quilting on the back.
Thanks Cindy!

The biggest quilt I've ever quilted!

Emma made the biggest quilt I've ever quilted! Her T-shirt quilt measured 115 by 135 inches! It was actually too long for my table, so I had to put it on the short-way, vertically. Which was a bit of a bummer since her shirts were pieced in vertical rows, but it worked out just fine in the end.

This very active graduating high school senior put in a life time of shirts into this quilt.

I couldn't even get the whole thing in the picture! Did I mention that this was her first ever quilt? She sure went for it all!

She had a large purple space that she thought would be a good place to quilt in "2018".

Otherwise it was a lot of filling in with all kinds of designs and outlining the shirt decals.

I used a gray thread throughout.

Emma was another one of my 4-H'er quilts that received a State Fair Alternate at the county fair.

Gotta love this girl's ambition to tackle this big first-time quilt. But I'd be willing to bet that her next quilt will be a little bit smaller ;)

Nice job Emma!

Winter Winds :: a raffle quilt

Becki brought me her church raffle quilt called 'Winter Winds'.

I had to make it church-raffle-worthy and got a bit fancy with it.

In the large dark blue border I did a large swirl and echoed it a few times, and filled in with pebbles on the inside and figure 8's on the outside. For the next blue border, and undulating paisley feather. And the gray and smallest border got double bubbles.

The blocks got an all-over super-sized swirl with paisley feathers.

I used a white thread throughout the quilt.

Does it look windy enough?

I hope this quilt sold lots of tickets. It sure it a pretty design!
She told me there was a mistake in it, but I never found it. Gee, I don't know how you couldn't make a mistake or more with this intricate block.

Thanks Becki :)

Sharon's Vintage

Sharon had me quilt up this lovely vintage quilt top her mother-in-law made a long time ago.

It is a special quilt and she wanted it custom quilted.

I put these designs together--simple feather in the border...

...ribbon candy in the pink parts, and loops in the triangles.

The blue blocks got a special design taken from a book I have.

I marked a few points I needed to hit with a cardboard template and went for it.  If you look closely, there were already a few marked lines on the quilt, which I used to my advantage.

Sharon was happy with the results. And I was relieved!
Thanks Sharon!

Luanne's Green and Red strips quilt

Luanne made this neat quilt with some greens and blue-gray strips.

I quilted an all-over feathered paisley with lots of curls and leaves.

The creamy back fabric really shows the quilting off well.

Thanks Luanne!

Rhonda's hexagons

Rhonda made this fun hexagon quilt in pink, gray, navy, and white.

I kept the quilting simple with an overall swirl design.

I used a light gray thread throughout the quilt.

A few feathered swirls here and there...

A sunny afternoon makes for awesome quilting pics in my basement.

I might have gotten a little camera happy with this one.

A solid gray back.  Thanks Rhonda!!
