Cowboy Quilt

Anita brought me this fun cowboy themed quilt.

I quilted all-over paisley designs along with some stars and lasso loops.

I couldn't resist a bit of custom in the big brown corner blocks.

Thanks Anita!

Baby Quilt Sampler and Embroidered Teddy Bears

Marty brought me a couple baby quilts. First up is this sweet pink and green sampler. She had me use a thick piece of felted blanket as the batting. A bed or crib liner at one time perhaps?

It actually quilted up nicely! I quilted overall designs of flowers, curls and leaves, but couldn't help myself from doing some quick custom work in this applique block.

Next was this adorable teddy bear embroidered baby blanket. This time she used a tea towel for batting.

Definitely not as much quilting definition as the last one, but it has a nice drape to it.

Thanks Marty for the adventures in batting! I do enjoy the experimenting.
Most of the time--It will quilt!

Moonglow Quilt

Pat made this beautiful quilt called Moonglow from a kit. So striking! Each paper pieced star is unique.

Quilting feathers in progress. I marked the spine with a chalk pencil and made sure the feathers on each side were flowing in a circular direction.

A little ruler work, a little free-motion in the star blocks.

Thanks Pat! I love how this one turned out for sure!

Embroidered Flowers Quilt

Joyce pieced this beautiful quilt for a friend who's relation had embroidered these lovely floral blocks.

This was the widest border I've ever done! 18 inches wide. Plenty of drape for sure!

Quilting in progress.

I had the quilt and backing for a while before it came up on my list. Then, I realized that my 96 inch wide batting was not wide enough for this quilt monster, so Joyce brought me a king sized batting a week later. Then, after I got it all pinned onto my leaders and loaded, I started looking at my thread choices. I really did not have a good match in my thread stash, (turkey red, bright pink, or black) so I ordered a couple color choices, and found the perfect dark burgundy-purple. Luckily I was able to zip the quilt off and work on another in the meantime with my extra set of zipper leaders. THEN, it was finally go time!

Joyce wanted to round the bottom corners, so she had them marked with chalk pencil for me. It made for a tricky design challenge for sure.

Once the dark burgundy-purple areas were quilted, I used a white thread for the embroidered blocks and light pink sashings.

I made sure the feathers on the inside border were going up the quilt since it was going to be displayed as a bed quilt.

You don't see too many quilts pieced specifically to be displayed for a bed like this very often. Or one with such a huge border either. The recipient loved it! Thanks Joyce!
