Carol's tiles

Carol made this beautiful scrap quilt for a grandson.

I quilted a paisley design with a few feather halves in the mix. That is my go-to masculine design I guess.  In the border I did a snail-y swirl.

I love how each block looks a little different just by changing up the colors.

Karen's Flannel

Karen also made this quilt using up scraps from her elephant quilt and using some thick plaid flannel. Contrast much?

I added to the contrast with giant swirls in the green strips...

...and cross-hatching in the plaid.  This was my first time doing cross-hatching. I was reluctant to do it honestly, but realized that all my marks were already there, I just had to connect the dots. Ok, that's not so scary then! Natalia Bonner has a great tutorial for continuous line cross-hatching.

The all-flannel back.  Yep, this will be one warm and cozy quilt!
Thanks Karen!

I've been busy trying to finish up a few sewing projects for Christmas, along with all the other things on my holiday to-do list. I think I just might make it! Can't wait to show you what I've been working on!

Elephant quilt

When Karen dropped off this elephant quilt, I couldn't wait to quilt it! It's so cool! She wanted a swirly, paisley design in the elephant, and we decided on straight 'organic' lines for the gray background.

So here is the swirly, paisley design in the elephant, in a sage-green thread.

a back leg. I think the straight lines contrast the texture of the elephant nicely.

I love it! Thanks for the fun quilt Karen!

DGS Sept and more from Marilyn

These were my DGS blocks for September.  Courtney took up that month and had us send any orphan blocks and any crazy, super scrappy random bits made into blocks. I had some leftover units and odds and ends that I stitched up into 12.5 inch blocks. Very random indeed! She's got the quilt all finished now and it looks awesome. Everyone's random blocks really came together as one and look great together. Check it out. So glad these leftovers have a final place to call home!

Here's a couple more from Marilyn.

Big flowers and leaves and swirls.

A feathered swirl on this one.

Thanks again Marilyn!
