This fall I realized that neither of my littles have a Christmas stocking.  My MIL made my hubs and I stockings several years ago.  My son had been using the one I had as a child until now. So now with little sis in the mix, I was on a mission to make them their own.

I was inspired by Jenny Pedigo's quilted stockings, but also wanted to include a bit of patchwork too. And because of where they are hung, they will be seen on both sides. So they got a quit-job on the front and back. I FINALLY tried out my new ruler base and foot for my Nolting. Just 2 months after I bought them. So here are my first attempts at ruler work to be put on display for all to see every December. Can you tell I'm horrible at rulers??

Allison's tutorial  was very useful for the cuff/lining/turning it all right side out part. I used a glitter-glue pen for their names.

The backs! Santa puts an apple and orange in the bottom, just like when I was a kid. Along with a few other toys and things.

Convoy #2

My Mom made another Buggy Barn Convoy quilt for her grandson/my nephew.  Unfortunately these are the only pics I have of the quilt- taken by my 3 year old son.

I quilted each truck a bit differently along with the tire rims.

If you want a better look- Here's one I did last spring very similarly.

A log cabin and Sunbonnet Sue.

Here's one Norene made using up some red, white and blues.

I did a feather in the red parts, and a super swirl and pebbles in the blue.

I extended the quilting designs into the border.

She used a denim fabric for the back. I mean the thick stuff and not just regular quilting cotton. No issues quilting it though!

Connie and her mom made this adorable embroidered baby quilt in a joint effort.

The baby's gender is a surprise, so a simple swirl worked well.

And that's what I did 2 months ago! I'm working on it...

About Trout

Teresa made this amazing quilt called About Trout.

The fish panels were all made with her embroidery machine.  I custom quilted each fish a bit differently.

I did a couple thread changes for the fish- I didn't want to ruin the look of the fish.

The large border is a grassy feather and a fish-tail looking feather in the inner borders.

And the background an overall swirly watery design.  This quilt was a Christmas gift for her son-in-law. I bet he loved it! Thanks Teresa-it was a fun quilt to do!
