Star Value- Do.Good Stitches Nurture Circle

I changed Do.Good Stitches groups at the beginning of the year to the Nurture Circle. They needed a quilter and someone to head up the month of January, so I took it on as another chance to make one of my favorite quilt patterns- Star Value!

Here we have the top all together.  There are just 12 blocks in this quilt! We made 16" blocks using 2.5 and 3 inch squares.

All quilted up! I did it similarly to the last one I did.  Loops in the light areas, straight meander in the gray frames, loop design in the centers.  In the stars, a curved geometric design.

The back with our really nice labels.  I machine stitched the binding on this time.  It is just so much quicker for me that way. Thanks Nurture circle girls! Your blocks turned out perfect!

I've been working on my own version of this quilt.  I have 3/4 of the blocks done! It is going to be double the size of this one, so 24 blocks is the goal.

Sail Boat Quilt

Joann pieced this neat sailboat quilt and wanted it custom quilted.

I quilted winds and waves in the blocks. She stitched in a thick piece of cord in for the masts, so I had to quilt my way around it.

Waves in the horizontal sashings and ribbon candy/rope in the vertical parts

She wanted to include some lighthouses. I ended up drawing them out in chalk pencil first. Quilting them free-style was resulting in a pretty wonky looking lighthouse.

Ships Ahoy!

Thanks Joan for a fun one!

Norene's twister

Norene made this Twister quilt using up some of her scraps.

She's made a few of these before, and I try to quilt each one a little differently.  This time I quilted a little feather with a curl in each 'blade'.

The hard part is coming up with a design that will travel well.

The border I kept super simple with a meander inside corner to corners.

These blocks measure about 5 inches across.

Thanks Norene!

Vintage Leaves

Marty found this vintage quilt top as a sale and had me quilt it up for her.

These leaves were so neat, I'd never seen a leaf pattern like this one.

I quilted all-over swirls and feathers on it in a white thread.

Such a neat quilt!

She wanted to use a plaid flannel sheet as her batting.  It worked fine as long as you don't mind the pattern showing through. It makes for a nice summertime bed quilt.

Thanks Marty!
