Embroidered Precious Moments Quilt

Pat brought me this quilt project to make. She had a large stack of embroidered Precious Moments blocks her mother had done that she wanted made into a quilt. She also had the fabric and another similar quilt that her mother had completed so I could piece it together in a similar way.

Once I crunched the numbers and figured out the best way to lay out the blocks while still fitting the backing provided, it went together pretty quickly. I ended up adding two solid white blocks to each of the bottom corners to complete the bottom row.

I decided that out of the three colors, the pink would frame the blocks the best and put that on the outside of my strip sets.

The Precious Moments blocks covered the gamut of spring, summer, Christmas, and other scenes, I decided to just put them together in a random order instead of organizing them in any chronological or seasonal sequence.

I quilted an all-over of feathered swirls and flowers to keep it simple, and sewed on the binding by machine.

A funny lighted view of the back.

A better look at the back.
Pat will gift this to her granddaughter, who is also my niece. So it is pretty neat that her Great-Grandma, Grandma, and aunt all had a hand in making this special quilt!
